Dr Charles Edel from the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC will offer insights into the trajectory of U.S. foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific under a second Trump administration. He will examine how a second Trump presidency has reshaped America's regional strategy, including its approach to alliances, trade architecture, defense commitments, and engagement with strategic partners such as Australia, Japan, and the Pacific Islands. Dr Edel will also assess the implications of an "America First" policy framework for regional stability, deterrence dynamics with China, and the future of multilateral initiatives such as the Quad and AUKUS. His remarks will consider both the challenges and potential recalibrations that regional actors may face in responding to a shifting U.S. posture.
